We are a small 3rd Generation Kennel in South Carolina. This was a Family project that started from 2 Lhasa Apso and has now expanded to become a love of our life. We are located in South Carolina in a town called Ridgeville which is NW of Charleston. We started raising Lhasa Apso’s about 26 years ago and have been breeding PureBreed AKC Registered Dogs.
All of our Lhasa Apso’s we raise, are considered part of our family, and our pets. We raise quality, purebred Lhasa Apso’s with pedigrees available. All of our animals live in a extremely clean environment and receive loads of love and exceptional care each day. We Breed well tempered Lhasa Apso’s which helps assure that they will have affectionate and good-tempered puppies, whether sold for show, breeding, or companionship. We always give our females a proper, long, and well-deserved period of rest before breeding them again. We specialize in breeding quality pedigreed Lhasa Apso’s in many colors, now including:
Black (Solid Black)
Golden (Pale gold to wheaten)
Grizzle (Bluish-gray or iron gray color due to an admixture of black and white hairs) Red grizzle (Admixture of black and red hairs)
Red Gold (Dark apricot to light red)
Party(Black and White)
Cream (Almost white to darker shades of cream)Party(Black and White)
Red (Solid red with shades of Viszla red to Irish Setter red)

Blue (A dilution of black, either light of dark blue gray with self-colored blue skin pigment)

The Ponderosa Lhasa Apso Ranch
We are a family-owned hobby breeder, located in Northport, Alabama. We specialize in Lhasa Apso, Maltese and Miniature Schnauzer puppies, which are AKC registered.I have been raising puppies for over 40 years and have met a lot of nice people. I have also had several come back to me to buy a second puppy! All of my dogs used in the breeding process are quality, healthy dogs.
My beautiful Lhasa Apsos are bred for the Show Ring. Having produced 150+ Champions to date, my standards are very high. Bred for great beauty, soundness of temperment and mind, movement, gorgeous straight coats. My dogs excel in the Show Ring. I will be happy to discuss adoption of a puppy or adult Lhasa to a wonderful Family. My puppies are raised in a “Hands On” home environment.
We have been Breeding, Showing and Handling Lhasa Apso’s for the past 47 years. We are presently located in Southern California, Orange County California, in a little town called Stanton, which is 4 miles up the street from Disneyland and three miles from Knotts Berry Farm. We only have one or two litters a year because we believe in breeding for quality and not quantity. We pride ourselves in breeding quality Lhasa Apsos with wonderful temperments. All of our Lhasa Apsos are home-raised with plenty of love, care and kisses.

The purpose of our breeding program is to produce Lhasa Apsos as similar in type to the original Tibetan imports with only the refinement necessary to succeed in today’s competitive show ring. Our dogs must stand up not only to the current standard set forth by the American Kennel Club but to the standards of many prestigious international kennel clubs. Our first Lhasa Apso arrived in 1987 and since them we have been in love with the breed.
Our Lhasas are an integral part of our family. They grace our home and adorn our furniture. My husband Jim and I now reside, along with our many Apsos, in the beautiful rolling hills of south-central Pennsylvania (PA).My goal as a breeder and conservationist of the Lhasa Apso has been to maintain the original Tibetan type as much as possible. Having always loved dogs, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn about Apsos from the ground up; starting with the basic care and grooming of the breed and eventually working my way up to the show and breeding aspect of what ultimately became a lifetime commitment.

I work closely, and visit frequently, with breeders in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark, so I have some European perspective as well as the local (USA) one. I am a Physician, and have published many articles on Lhasas over the past 30 years.
Kooskie Kennels is a breeder of Lhasa Apso andShih Tzu dogs. We have been breeding AKC Registered dogs for over 20 years. Our puppies are well socialized having played with our children and grandchildren.
