My name is Deborah Anderson and I have invested over 18 years in breeding quality Shiba Inus, this is my full time job. I have a Degree in Biology, from the University of Illinois, and have and worked in a veterinarian clinic. I have 17 Adult Shiba’s, all carefully selected to meet breed standards. I have established good bloodlines of healthy, beautiful, smart, and social dogs with great temperament.
I breed Shiba Inu puppies as a hobby out of my home in Minot, North Dakota.
The Shiba Inu is considered the oldest and smallest of the six original dog breeds from Japan. These dogs are very active, playful, and affectionate.
Kobushi Shiba is a small hobby breeder located in Clarksville, Tennessee. I am dedicated to the preservation of the Shiba Inu as intended by the Japanese Preservation Society, NIPPO and breed only a few litters a year. Each litter is carefully planned and raised in my home with a focus on socialization, breed type and structure.
Dave and Gail Gordon started their dog show careers separately but coincidentally in the same year, 1971. Dave started in Ohio and Gail in Georgia. Dave and Gail met through the dog show ring and were later married in 1979. In our 45 years showing dogs, we have finished more than 100 Champions. Dave chose the name “Marma Farms” because he was breeding and showing Great Danes to begin with, and Marmaduke was the well-known comic strip about a silly Great Dane. Gail also started showing and breeding Great Danes. When we were married, we combined kennels and kept the name “Marma Farms”. It wasn’t until 2003 that we started breeding and showing Shiba Inus.
Central Iowa Pups is a small operation making it possible to put our dogs first. Our boxers have a large yard to run in daily, and there are only three breeding females. We have very nice looking boxers with great attitudes and personalities, who love people, especially kids.
We also have eight shiba inu’s who keep us very busy with their independent ways, and entertaining personality. The shiba’s are great with each other and the other breeds. They love to be indoors unless it’s a beautiful day, or snowing outside. Shiba’s are very natural in snow in cold, making house breaking easy any time of the year.
We are a small show kennel located in Black
Hawk, SD. Black Hawk is approximately 6 hours from Denver, CO. Our philosophy is to maintain the Shiba Inu as originally intended in Japan and we are dedicated to the health and integrity of the breed.
Bali Hai was first established in early 1999 when we acquired our first Shiba Inu “BALI HAI”; hence our name. We had previously been Elwood Kennels and were involved in the breeding of Miniature Pinschers. We are located in EASTERN LONG ISLAND (Suffolk County), NEW YORK.
We are a small hobbyist consisting of 9 Shibas. We produce anywhere from 3-7 puppies a year. Staying small enables me to put the necessary time into each individual puppy. All of our puppies are home raised and handled constantly from birth for socialization purposes.
The coat on the Shiba is somewhat soft, thick and plush to the touch. They have a double coat, with a strong, straight outer coat and a soft undercoat.
The Shiba Inu was bred to flush out ground game from the undergrowth of the mountain areas of Japan. They are very fast and are NOT OFF LEASH DOGS!
Prairie Shiba’s is located on a ranch in SW Nebraska. We breed our dogs for the enjoyment and pleasure of producing healthy, happy, quality (to breed standard), Shiba Inus. Our puppies are socialized with children and animals. Including; cattle, cats and other dogs. Some of the facts you should know about us is that the care of our dogs, and that our puppy people come first at Prairie Shibas. We preform extensive health testing on our breeding stock. Health testing can be viewed at http://www.offa.org.
During the 1980s I was involved with a student exchange program between the University of Nevada and Tottori University of Japan. Every summer, I took 30-50 Japanese college students into the Nevada deserts and to my ranch in the Sierra Nevada near Reno. Here they had a wide variety of experiences unavailable to them in Japan – shooting a gun, getting bucked off a horse, cooking over a campfire, and just sitting on a dune with a 100 mile view of no lights or towns or people.
About the same time I acquired a small red dog with a curled tail from an employee of mine who seemed to be spending too much time in jail to be a good dog owner. Kona was a great dog, dignified, fierce, stubborn, so when my students identified her as a Shiba “she speaks better Japanese than we do!”, I was eager to get more. It was several years before the students were chaperoned by veterinary professors who were able to arrange my purchase of several show dogs from breeders in Ueda, Japan. As it turned out, I had never seen a Shiba when I imported my first two from Japan. The rescue dog which my Japanese students had identified as a Shiba bore only a distant physical resemblance to Chibi and Summer when they came to me in the mid 1980s, but I was so impressed by her and by those first two Shibas that I soon imported six more, and my life has never been the same since. The Japanese veterinarians who assisted me were apparently very anxious to repay me for the hospitality which I had shown them in the wilds of the American west, and made sure that I was sent the highest quality dogs available. Of those seven, only one was not of fine show quality, and she is still with me as a well loved pet.
We hope you enjoy browsing through the following pages that represent over 26 years with the Shiba Inu, and nearly 43 years with the Siberian Husky. We have bred Siberians under the kennel names of Desha, Maridel and Des-Mar, including our Best In Show winners.
We are located in southern Indiana, near Louisville, KY
Whispering Pines is a small hobby kennel located in Central Louisiana, owned by Wanda St. Pé. We have been raising pure bred dogs for over 30 years. Our goal is to breed quality AKC registered Shiba Inu’s and prepare them for life in their new homes.
We reside on 10 acres of land and our dogs have plenty of room to stretch their legs and run around. We believe this keeps them active, happy, and in good temperament.
Icewind is located on 10 beautiful acres in the Mountains of Northwest New Jersey. Our Shibas enjoy a great life with our family as we are devoted and loving breeders. We have provided a huge amount of fenced in land for our Shibas to run and play. We welcome visitors by appointment to come and interact with our happy, friendly, and healthy Shibas. Its an amazing experience! We believe happy and healthy puppies come from happy and healthy Parents. All our Shibas come from Champion AKC and Japanese Lines. We believe young puppies should have the opportunity to develop emotionally, socially, and physically from the moment they are born. We imprint each puppy daily with touching and handling.

I am a small hobby / show kennel located in Lawrence, Kansas breeding and showing AKC / NIPPO champion Shiba Inus (and ONLY Shibas) for show and pet homes since 2004.
I breed for correct breed type and outgoing loving temperaments and personalities, NO puppy will be sold strictly for breeding, if not going to a confirmed show home he/she will be sold on a spay/neuter contract.
I am licensed in the state of Kansas, and am also USDA licensed due to the new law that requires it. I DO NOT and have NEVER sold to ANY pet store or broker.
ALL of my dogs are AKC registered and some are also NIPPO registered. I DO NOT breed so called “designer” or “hybrid” dogs. All of my dogs have outstanding champion bloodlines. Some are champion bred and some are champions. They are NOT kept in crates or on concrete. They are in large outdoor pens where they can enjoy the fresh air & sunshine, chase leaves and just be dogs.
We love Shibas (our own most especially, of course) and would like to invite you to explore our shiba site.
I am a big dog lover and have always had dogs in my life. From Beagles,
Elkhounds, German Shepherds, Collies, Boxers and now Shiba Inus. A
family member introduced me to Shibas about 6 years ago and I have
been hooked since. Love these guy’s quirky little attitudes and catlike
gracefulness.
Eastwood Shibas are not kept outside or in kennels – all
our Shibas live in our home with us – they are family.
We only have 1 to 2 litters a year, so we
can enjoy the Shibas we have.
