Bali Hai was first established in early 1999 when we acquired our first Shiba Inu “BALI HAI”; hence our name. We had previously been Elwood Kennels and were involved in the breeding of Miniature Pinschers. We are located in EASTERN LONG ISLAND (Suffolk County), NEW YORK.
We are a small hobbyist consisting of 9 Shibas. We produce anywhere from 3-7 puppies a year. Staying small enables me to put the necessary time into each individual puppy. All of our puppies are home raised and handled constantly from birth for socialization purposes.

They are hobby breeders in central New Jersey who are preserving and bettering Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers through a carefully thought out breeding program that has added new blood to the North American Wheatens from Irish and German dogs. In addition to providing healthy and well-adjusted puppies to others they have taken time out of their careers to promote and care for the breed standard, and help educate others in the training and care of this very special breed of terrier.
I have been Breeding and Showing Rhodesian Ridgebacks Since 1985 and Beagles since 2007. I have been an AKC Judge since 2007 and am working on the Hound Group. To date, I am licensed in Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Beagles, Ibizan Hounds, American Foxhound and Afghans. My Passion is breeding and showing the dogs. We are a small breeding kennel breeding two, maybe three litters a year. We DO NOT mass produce puppies, and we DO NOT ship puppies from one end of the country to the other site unseen. In Fact, we DO NOT ship puppies at all. We work from a waiting list where our families may sometimes have to wait a little longer to get their puppy, while knowing quite well that they are getting an excellent quality beagle puppy from a reputable breeder
Our dogs are happy well loved animals, and we will ONLY sell our puppies to screened, loving families. And believe me, we do turn people away. My husband’s name is Bernie and I am Lisa Kanuck, we thought it was pretty clever our kids came up with our name BER-ISAS. Ber short for Bernie and isa’s short for Lisa’s put it together we have Ber-isa’s. We liked it so much we kept it.
