Tramore started in 1971 with the purchase of our first Irish Setter. Our main concentration has been showing and breeding, but many of our dogs have gone on to successful obedience careers, therapy, agility, and recently field work.Averaging a litter per year, we breed for sound temperaments, correct conformation, and healthy specimens. We’ve produced over 80 AKC Champions, several Japanese, Mexican and International Champions, and have ROM’s on several of our bitches.
My dogs and I are actively involved in conformation and have been in obedience and agility events. My stud dogs are available to approved bitches. It is my goal to produce sound, healthy, and excellent temperament Irish Setters that conform to the Irish Setter standard. All puppies are sold with health guarantees. As a member of the Irish Setter Club of America, I adhere to the Breeder’s Code of Ethics.
When breeding our priority is health first. Finding them good loving forever homes is next on our list. This is done through a screening process which includes filling out a questionnaire and allowing us to do a home check to make sure the puppy is going to a safe home. If the puppy gets shown or gets to do obedience, agility, rally or therapy work that is considered a bonus.
I acquired my first Irish Setter in 1989 from a pet store. (Not the recommended way to buy a dog!) She quickly stole my heart, and I fell in love with the breed. Unfortunately, I lost her several months later when some neighborhood children let her loose from her yard and she was killed by a car. I will never forget the pain… It was then that I set about finding another Irish Setter, this time from a reputable breeder. I only wanted a pet and bought a female with an overbite. The breeder of this girl sent me to go watch a dog show in my area. I was hooked immediately! I quickly acquired two more dogs for show. My show career was put on hold when I moved to Saudi Arabia to work at the American School. Of course, I took my dogs with me.
Here at Rose Valley we try to insure that our dogs and puppies are well taken care of. The right food and vet care is important. We are committed to placing our puppies in the very best homes possible. Rose Valley Kennel consistently raises lifelong companions.
IronFire Irish Setter bred dogs are excellent shooting dogs that hunt to the cover be it prairie or pine. It is our hope that they would please any foot hunter who wishes an excellent bird dog and companion.Over the years we have out crossed to just about all the good Irish Setter hunting lines and I believe we have in the IronFire dogs all you could wish for in a hunting companion.
At 57 I feel I have a mission and rewarding labor of love (and , as I call it, lots of “Fun work”). I truly believe I am providing best friends, unconditionally loving companions and family members, and that it is a positive endeavor in an especially troubled world, especially for families with children. We continue to raise puppies and have ongoing positive feedback and referrals from happy people, many with families and children. Some of my dogs are doing therapy work and/or perform in obedience trials.
My daughter, son and I are small hobby breeders. We have 6 breeding Irish Setter females and 1 breeding Gordan Setter. We also have 3 Weimaraners. Our dogs get plenty of love and attention. Our goal is to provide you with a healthy, beautifully coated and sound structured companion that you can share many years of love and devotion! We have several litters a year.
Located in Oregon on acreage outside of Oregon City, we have lots of room for our dogs to work and play. We strongly believe in early puppy socialization as well as evaluation testing to determine what their basic temperament is and which pups are most “birdy” so they can be properly matched with their prospective families. Health and temperment are our priorities, but we are also proud of producing beautiful representatives of the breed.
Brookhaven Kennels in Nashua, Montana, is home to the best-trained hunting dogs and puppies you’ll find.
Trained using wild birds right here in Montana, you can’t ask for a better companion during a bird hunt.

At 12 years of age, I knew that I had to have an Irish Setter in my life. I finally got him in 1971. Here at Cairncross Irish Setters, each litter is plannned to produce happy, healthy, exhuberent puppies who have the potenial to be just about anything their owners would like them to be-whether it be in conformation, obedience, agility, field and/or as a loving, lifetime friend. This requires excellent temperments, an eagerness to please, and good health as well as good conformation and intelligence.

In the beginning, a very special puppy.., And in the end, a very special old dog…….
In between there is a priceless relationship. Ours have been with Irish Setters (with a few English Cockers mixed in for good measure).
We purchased our first Irish Setter in 1981, Canus County Galway, and immediately fell in the love with the breed. I did obedience with Galli and finished her CD with a High-in-Trial.We had always admired the Rockherin line and both our foundation stock went back to their breeding. I am past President of the Irish Setter Club of America and a AKC Judge. After 34 years of being involved with Irish Setters, my love affair with this breed will never die. We breed to produce healthy, sound and good temperment Irish Setters.
When we first embarked on our quest for a pair of Irish Setter puppies we didn’t want just any Irish Setters. We were determined that certain behavioral traits and bloodline criteria had to be met. After a lengthily and educational search , we found Akela and Senora. They quickly became part of our family and it is hard to remember a time when they weren’t with us. Akela Lomann’s Teddy Bear’s sire, Lomann’s Veltins is from Germany. Lomann’s Veltins sire, Russells Kismet, is a German Show Champ plus Hunting Champion. A true Dual Champ, which is rare.
We were living in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, when in 1968 we got our first Irish Setter. We originally got her as a pet, but were lucky enough to get her Champion title. We then got our foundation bitch from Betty Crawford, CH Shannon’s Pamela.
Walt wanted an English Setter. So, our first English came from Wraggee Run Kennel in Canada. Over the years, we have had several English and Gordon bitches. We have bred Irish over the years and now have 4 generations.
My name is Kim Lamontagne, and I am a breeder in Colorado. I am a member of the Irish Setter
Club of Colorado and the Irish Setter Club of America.
Our lives are greatly enriched by the companionship of our dogs. Everyday life takes on a special sparkle and they remind us to cherish each moment. Competing in conformation events hones our breeding program and keeps us connected to friends. Sharing our dogs through therapy work at schools & nursing homes blesses others (and ourselves)! Our joy comes full circle when our limited breeding program allows us to place well-matched puppies into loving homes, enlarging and enriching the ‘Blessing Family’.
